First things first, why is a clothing company talking to you about finances? Part of the Equali Tees vision is creating a space where people can gain knowledge about the inqualities that they face. Our U.M.E. logo incorporates many different symbols including the Yen which is meant to represent financial equity and the spread of financial knowledge. When our logo was being created I was very aware of the types of issues that I wanted to tackle and deliberate about the types of symbols that would be used. I'm glad to be finally getting to the meat of it all!
You know how you have those moments with a teacher that you'll just never forget? My 7th grade English teacher, Ms. McMillan, had my class recite the following and it has stuck with me til this day: "Excuses are the tools of incompetance used to build monuments of nothingness. Those who excel in it seldom excel in anything else but excuses". When I saw the following meme I immediately thought of sitting in Ms. McMillans class:
How true is that for you? What are the different things that you tell yourself so that you don't have to get up in the morning? What, if any, excuses do you use? Honestly, I'm almost always late for my flight, but I've definitely had times when I was putting in more work toward getting on a plane than on my company and I have no shame in admitting that. Lessons learned! Time management is a problem area in my life that I'm aware of and that I actively work on. Beyond my tardiness, changing my mindset and setting my priorities in order is something else that I work on daily. I want my business to succeed and it's not going to do so on its own. If you sleep on your dreams, your dreams will sleep on you.
I love a good meme and when I saw this one I knew that I had to share it with ya'll for this conversation:
So simple, yet so much truth in here. If you want to be successful and you want to make money, these are all real life things that we must conquer. I am a BIG fan of Netflix and trust and believe I get my $12.99 a month worth and then some. There is nothing I love more than cuddling up with my fiance and starting a new sci fi series or watching a horror movie. BUT! In the life of an entrepreneur, there is always something to do and getting too caught up in watching successful people instead of working on my own success is most certainly counterproductive. Video games fall into that same boat. Unless you're making money while playing them you're probably using up valuable time that could be going toward your goals. Overthinking, waiting for the right time and staying in your comfort zone all fall under having limiting self beliefs. Overthinking is essentially doubting yourself as is waiting for the right time which is you thinking that you're not ready. Staying in your comfort zone is a way of telling yourself that you're not equipped to do more. We've gotta get past this stuff! Lastly, not having enough rest will just have you walking around in zombie mode. You can't function well if your mind and body aren't well rested. Check out my #SelfCareSunday posts for some inspiration!
Rounding up today's meme collection is this little gem to bring it all home:
There's no time like the present and you don't have to start on 100. In fact, doing so may cause you to burn out and make it harder for you to start up again. Take it one day at a time and be gentle with yourself if you ever fall off. Beating up on yourself serves no purpose and negative self thought will stop your dreams in their tracks. Keep your eyes on the prize and remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint!
I hope that you got some value out of this post. I like to share the things that inspire me in hopes that they make even one other person's goals seem a little more attainable. That could be the person that changes the world!
Happy Goal Getting!
