$10 from the sale of each Africa soap goes toward the purchase of an African Ancestry ancestral DNA kit!
Equali Tees in partnership with Stella and Throne Soapery has launched The Journey Home, a campaign to provide ancestral DNA kits to African American students in educational institutions around the country.
African Americans have the right to know where they’re from. This information will afford us a connection to our cultures, traditions and most importantly our history before slavery.
To raise awareness about the petition our brand ambassador, activist and TLC alum Vanessa Cobbs, will be hosting a giveaway of an African Ancestry DNA test. James Elementary School in Tampa, FL will also join us, hosting an essay contest amongst their 4th and 5th grade students to determine another test recipient. The essay contest will begin in February 2021 to coincide with Black History Month and will conclude at the end of March. AfricanAncestry.com is providing the tests for both contests.
Both Equali Tees and Stella and Throne Soapery have a product that will benefit The Journey Home Campaign. $10 from the sale of each The Root t shirt from Equali Tees ($30) and The Root Soap from Stella and Throne Soapery ($20) will go toward the purchase of a DNA kit for an African American on a journey to discover what home truly means.
Why African Ancestry: African Ancestry is a more costly option than many ancestral DNA tests on the market because it is the only company whose tests place African ancestry in a present day country and ethnic group or tribe. They also have the largest number of African DNA samples in the industry to analyze ancestry. Very importantly, they don’t sell or store personal or genetic information to third parties as many of their competitors do. Lastly, African Ancestry is black owned and operated which speaks to the community at hand.

The Root Africa Soap
Africa: This colorful bar reflects the colors of many African flags including Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and Senegal. A silhouette of Africa wraps around the body of the soap creating a 3D affect. The scent is a fresh and green mix of cucumber, vetiver, grass, honey, bamboo, geranium, sage, patchouli, oakmoss and sandalwood.
